Infant Baptism

Baptism incorporates us into the Church and gives us rebirth as sons and daughters of God. Through the Sacrament, we become members of the church and receive the gift of eternal life.

In Baptism parents pledge to raise their children in the faith of the Roman Catholic Church and to journey along with them. Your child's baptism is a time for celebration and joy; and naturally, you want the best for your child.

We want to help you plan and prepare for the baptism in the best possible way.

During the Rite of Baptism, Parents and Godparents will experience the following:

  • 1.You will present your child/children to the church.
  • 2.You will give him/her a name to show they have become a new person in Christ.
  • 3.You will testify to the faith they will share.
  • 4.You will promise to be living and practicing examples of faith to your child/children.

Baptisms are scheduled on all Sundays of each month at 1:30 pm, except during the summer months of July and August. During these months, baptisms are scheduled on the 2nd & 4th Sundays.

A maximum of four children will be scheduled on a given Sunday. Baptisms are also scheduled during the 12 noon mass on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month, except during Lent and Advent.

The role of Godparent is a serious one, being chosen is an honor. At least one Godparent must be a confirmed Roman Catholic.

The confirmed Catholic represents the Christian Catholic community, the church. The other may be a Christian from another tradition, thereby being a Christian Witness. Church law requires the Godparent to be at least 16 years of age (for maturity sake).

All Parents and Godparents are required to attend one of the Baptism Preparation Classes at least one month prior to the month of the Baptism.

All dates for the classes are listed on the back of the baptismal form.

Baptism forms may be obtained from the Rectory.
Please fill out and return as soon as possible.
